MMPC History

Mount Moriah Pentecostal Church of God, Inc. was founded in August 1964 at a small storefront church located at 112 Rogers Avenue in Brooklyn, New York, by Reverend McDonald E. Boyce and his beloved wife, Sister Clarissa I. Boyce, immigrants from the beautiful island of Barbados. With a deep passion for God and a commitment to ministry, they established a church grounded in prayer, faith, holiness, and service to the community.

Reverend McDonald E. Boyce faithfully shepherded the ministry until the Lord called him home on June 10, 1971, at the tender age of 43. Following his passing, the church installed his wife and co-founder, Evangelist Clarissa I. Boyce, as Pastor. Under her leadership, the church experienced tremendous spiritual and numerical growth. As the congregation expanded, additional space became necessary.

Through God’s mighty help and divine provision, Pastor Clarissa Boyce successfully arranged for the purchase of the church’s current home at 238 Rochester Avenue, Brooklyn, New York, in January 1977. This sacred location continues to serve as the church’s place of worship to this day. God gave Pastor Boyce a clear vision for the ministry, and despite disappointments, challenges, and opposition, she faithfully pursued and championed that vision with unwavering determination and trust in God.

Pastor Clarissa Boyce was eventually called home to be with the Lord on September 21, 1988. Although both founders were called home at relatively early ages, their dedication, sacrifice, and faithfulness to God continue to live on through the ministry they established and nurtured.

Today, their legacy continues through their daughter, Reverend Gloria C. Sealy, who currently serves faithfully as the church’s fifth Pastor. Under her leadership, Mount Moriah Pentecostal Church of God, Inc. remains committed to preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ, uplifting the community, and carrying forward the vision and spiritual foundation laid by its founders.
